Funny mistakes in the world of foreign languages
Clinton recently presented a gift to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and got the translation of the word “reset” all wrong.
The translation Clinton’s team chose was “peregruzka” which actually means overloaded or overcharged rather than reset. Oops. When trying to impress or create a better relationship.

The slogan for an American cigarette company whose slogan is “Feeling Free,” got translated in the Japanese market into “When smoking…, you feel so refreshed that your mind seems to be free and empty”. Causing their attempt at expanding their market to a foreign market a complete disaster.

In Italy, a campaign for Schweppes Tonic Water translated the name into Schweppes Toilet Water!

A toothpaste company introduced a toothpaste in France called Cue, the name of a notorious porno magazine!
An American T-shirt maker in Miami printed shirts for the Spanish market which promoted the Pope's visit. Instead of "I saw the Pope" (el Papa), the shirts read "I saw the potato" (la papa).
